How our commitment to nature began

A community-led movement restoring springs, rebuilding ecosystems, and reconnecting people with water across Indonesia.

Water was never truly gone.

Water was never truly gone. It still falls from the sky. It still flows through rivers. It still arrives as floods.

But the crisis begins when water can no longer return home. When forests disappear, soil hardens, and springs are forgotten, water loses its path back into the earth.

And when water cannot return to its cycle and purpose, disaster follows. Floods grow stronger. Dry seasons grow longer. Clean water becomes expensive. And inequality quietly rises between those who can access water and those who cannot.

Jaga Semesta exists to help water find its way home again. Through spring restoration, ecological recovery, and community stewardship, we are rebuilding the relationship between people and the water cycle itself

Jaga Semesta was born from a simple yet urgent realization: water crisis risk in Indonesia was not just a technical problem. It was a sign that the natural relationships between land, water, and people had weakened. In 2023, after years of observing declining springs and increasing risk of water crisis, Fainta Negoro initiated what would become Jaga Semesta to protect and restore natural springs across Indonesia.

From the beginning, Jaga Semesta has been a collaborative effort. Our Founder Fainta brought together scientists, local communities, elders, and volunteers to explore, document, and restore springs. Not by imposing external solutions, but by empowering local custodians and reconnecting traditional knowledge with ecological science
