Our story

How our commitment to nature began

From Crisis to Collective Action

Born from a growing water crisis, this is the story of how concern turned into collective action.

Protecting Water. Restoring Life. Together.

On the island of Java, home to over 140 million people, a quiet crisis is brewing. Springs are drying. Rivers are polluted. By 2040, Java could face total water scarcity, a catastrophe driven by unchecked urbanization, climate change, and decades of poor water management.
Jaga Semesta was born from this urgent truth.

A Moment That Called for Change

Our founder, Fainta Negoro, has spent decades working in natural resource management and climate action. Witnessing the rapid decline of Java’s water sources, the very springs that give life to our communities, she knew something had to change. But change doesn’t happen alone.

More Than an Organization

Jaga Semesta is not just an organization. We are a movement of farmers, students, mothers, scientists, and everyday citizens, connecting together virtually and on the ground to care for nature and one another.
